Birthday with 3 friends
Yesterday was my birthday and since J
didn’t want to couldn’t celebrate with me, I had three friends over! We had such a wonderful time and the best thing is, when the party was over, I didn’t even have to send them off. I simply gobbled them up in the end.
Blackforest cake from Four Leaves, Bugis Junction. Not very impressionable indeed. He’s too dull to be a blackforest. I had more impressionable food, er… I mean friends
Strawberry Shortcake. Nice to look but not so nice to eat. There are very few places that serve good strawberry shortcake and Four Leaves is definitely not one of them.
Encasing strawberry slices with chantilly cream amidst the vanilla sponge didn’t help either. Trying to look so prim and demure but actually was quite ditsy and lacking in substance. What an eyesore and I simply had to eat her up in the end. The first to go.
Apple Crumble Pie from Ritz Apple Strudel was the best pal of ’em all! It stuck with me right the end, i.e. it was eaten last. And it was so good! he pie base was firm and solid, despite being in the fridge for a few hours after reaching home. The apple filling was simply delicious. Apple slices were crisp and still bear the crunch while they smelled and tasted so heavenly of cinnamon. The crumble topping also stood firm to its ground, literally and did not even go soggy (unlike the ones from Jack’s Place). What a pal indeed…definitely a keeper!
There was a fourth friend who’s supposed to join our party actually, a “Mini Apple Strudel” also from Ritz. But before decent photos could be taken, it somehow got lost along the way … in my stomach that is.
Some Japanese friends were nice enough to join the fun as well… a platter of sushi. They were not very worthy friends anyway, only $6.95 for a set of 10. And they too couldn’t stay very long for the party. No prizes for guessing where they ended up eventually.
What a birthday party indeed!
