Sakae Sushi @ Citylink Mall
Hi-Tea Buffet @ Sakae Sushi, City Link Mall, City Hall MRT station. Its $18.90 +++ per head and runs from 3 pm to 5 pm . We didn’t have lunch and we thought, why not? Could eat this and skip dinner as well!
Buffet includes all coloured plates at $1.99, 1 pink plate ($3.99) and 1 red plate ($5.99) per pax. It also comes with a complimentary bowl of udon, either with wakame (sea weed) or Kitsune (Japanese sweet beancurd skin) which was really simple but yet refreshing we thought. the picture shows a combination of both toppings, and narutomaki.
Salmon (sake) sushi
Age (fried) tofu
Inari (Japanese sweet beancurd skin) sushi
Surimi scallop
More Salmon (sake) sushi. we had 4 servings of these! The later servings were more around the belly region aka fatty! We need omega-3 acids!
Ikura (salmon roe) Gunkan sushi. Honestly, we didn’t eat this. We just took it off the conveyor belt, took a picture and put it back. Naughty us! :p
Unagi (grilled conger eel) & Shiitake mushroom Gunkan sushi. Couldn’t really taste the unagi though..
Ebi (shrimp) sushi
amaebi (Japanese sweet shrimp) sushi
Tai (Sea bream) sushi. It came out a bit cold, almost like it was just taken out of the fridge. Grrrr….
Maguro (Tuna) sushi. Not fantastic as it’s a real lean (non-fatty) cut. And its real pale, which means the blood has been largely drained off. What a waste.
Shime saba sushi
Surimi crab stick sushi
Unagi Sushi
Edamame, a staple order at any izayaka
soft shell crab maki
More soft shell crab maki. The toasted sesame seeds really lends aroma and texture to the rice when they are crushed.
takoyaki aka takopachi. Palatable but not fabulous. There is a small bit of tako inside each ball though.
Ebi tempura maki with crepe
tamagoyaki sushi
Tobiko and snow crab with tamagoyaki sushi
Another view. It comes with some Ikura too.
Salmon karaage. This is a HUGE potion with easily 15 pieces of bit size salmon slices
Potato koroke (croquette). I thought the insides was real soft and creamy but J didn’t really like this hmm…
Yasai Kakiage
Salmon cheek karnaage. Real fatty bits, I like!
Selection of King’s ice-cream that comes complimentary with the Hi-Tea Buffet. Two flavours to choose from and we got one each!
King’s mango sherbet ice-cream for dessert. Quite yummy!
King’s brownie ice-cream for dessert.
Well, is it of good value? I would say yes. But this is the quality of “we serve only what we eat” like what Sakae professes? I doubt so. Some bits of the buffet are nice, like the agemono (fried) items. But some are less desirable, like the maguro and tai sushi.
Would we be back again? Well, probably when we are very hungry and wanna save some money by having lunch and dinner in one seating, and if we happen to be in the vicinity. Not worth a purposeful visit, we reckon.
